Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

From looking at different institutions, I found the one that distributes the most well known magazines is WorldWide Magazine Distribution LTD - British magazines direct which is now based in Chelmsley wood, Birmingham. They issue all sorts of magazines such as: Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Heat, NME, Rock-a-Rolla and many more. The company took off in the 1970/80's and was known for its computer gaming magazines but has expanded since, and formed a strong market joining with three of the UK's major wholesalers, WH Smith, John Menzies, and Surridge Dawson now dispensing fashion, music, lifestyle, sport, gaming and many more genre's of magazine.
From looking at the stats between different magazine distribution companys, it has become obvious that WWMD is the best distribution institute in the UK.

Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I called my magazine 'Pre-Season Fashion' because as it is a male fashion magazine, I wanted to relate it to sport too and I understand that pre-season is the duration from where one season finishes, to when the next one starts. So as autumn was coming to an end, but it wasn't quite winter I found that 'Pre-Season fashion' would be a very approptiate name for my male fashion magaine.
I decided on the above genre because after researching fashion magazines, I found that there were very little male fashion magazines  on the market, but lots for females. So I formed a questionnaire and from the information I collected, it seemed that a male fashion magazine was a the right choice.
The main images I have used for my magazine were taken at Birmingham Bullrings Fashion show. Which I went to watch once I had decided on my magazine genre. They seem to fit perfectly with the rest of my magazine and relate to my double page spread (dps) story. The extra images I took which are placed on the right side of my dps were ones I took of my brother at home, this was for the purpose of advertising the ideal winter outfit.
It was quite good timing that the winter fashion show was in Birmingham just as I started my magazine. Once finding a good place to stand, taking the photo's was reletively easy.
I have kept the fonts in a 'military' and 'stencil' style which is bold and fairly masculine. The fonts are all either navy, black or white this is because they go well with the back ground and main images and are also known as masculine colours therefore will appeal to males more than other magazines.
I have layed out my magazine by combining my own ideas with other magazines that I have analysed, keeping the image more to the right side of the front cover, and having my coverlines in the left third.
